I understand their popular chicken wings are only available 3 days a week. So I was fortunate to be there on a Wednesday to savor the yummy, crispy wings, along with fried egg and sardine. Not your typical predictable economical foodstall dishes served, but offers a taste of home-prepared dishes at affordable prices, especially in civic district.

I’ve dined here a few times and the economic rice is consistently good! Lunchtime queues can be snaking, but they move fast. The staff know their stuff and I’ve found the ordering process really smooth as they are willing to offer suggestions and wait for me to choose what I want. The dishes here are cooked and seasoned expertly, neither too salty nor oily. I’ve read great reviews about the fried chicken and finally got to try it on my last visit. Happy to report that it lives up to the hype. Great chilli sauce as well, punchy, slightly tart and sweet. It’s a smallish cafe with few tables so be prepared to share seats when you dine in. I find the “tray return” system pretty good and very intuitive - when you are done with your meal, the paper sheet goes into a big bin, the cutlery into a pail, and the plates onto the stack of plates.

We searched for nice food around the area. Fried pork chops is tender and great. When we reached there, they ran out of rice. Auntie was nice to ask whether we need rice when rice was ready. The dishes were filling and awesome.

Visited at about 10.45am and there was no queue. I like their fried pork chop, thick and nice! Curry gravy was also flavourful so remember to request for it. Pricing was reasonable and the ladies there was chatty and friendly too.

Finally managed to grab my lunch at Tony Cafe on a Saturday afternoon, as it is always crowded on weekdays. I guess I was there late so there weren't many dishes left for me to choose from. Glad to have tried their fried chicken wings, it was good, especially when it paired with their homemade chili sauce. Seats are limited so you might want to either go there super early or you will have to wait for one.

This cafe is located on the back row of shops on the second floor of The Adelphi, opposite Funan Mall. They serve economy rice with a good variety of dishes. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, they have fried chicken wing on the menu. I had the ‘chicken rice’ instead of plain rice, 2 fried chicken wings, stir fried bittergourd and curry vegetables. My order costs $7. Chicken wing was good. It goes well with the belachan chilli, which you can add from a bottle on the side. Vegetables were tasty too. Tables and chairs are limited, around 8 tables. There is a long queue of customers from 11.45am, but it moves fast, as the staff are efficient in taking customers’ orders. Most people do takeaways. Do come early if you can. Recommended!
